15 years old, 2 ACL surgeries in one year and still not stable

My son is an avid soccer player and has worked hard his entire life to progress in his sport. He had just earned the spot as one of the top 100 in the nation. He started high school and wanted to play football to get to know other guys. On October 8, 2009 he tore his ACL. He had an autograph with the hamstring. He rehabbed and did all the training to get back into shape. 6 months later he was given the ok to play again. His first soccer game, 30 seconds into it, he went to shoot and without any contact went down again. He retore his ACL and his meniscus. So, back into surgery to have it all fixed on June 15, 2010. This time they used the patella tendon. Well, here we are on January 4, 2011 and we just had an artho MRI to see why there was still instability. We were told that the meniscus did not heal. Now he has to have it scoped again.

I am not sure what to do. We are trying to get him back into sports but are not having any luck. We are hesitant to have another surgery on his leg but that seems the only way for him to be competitive again.

Our son feels lost. He was doing sports everyday and now he is frustrated and feels his future in sports is over.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Laura
