My Pre-Op MRI image

I tore my ACL playing co-ed flag football on 3-1-09. After some pre-surgery physical training, my surgery was performed on 4-14-09. My entire story (including MRI images, photos of progress of the surgical leg, PT stories, post-surgical x-rays and arthroscopic images from the surgery) can be found on my blog at http://acljourney.blogspot.com

Feel free to leave any comments or questions, though as of today (4/23) I am just over 1 week out of surgery!

Same surgery date
by: rebecca kemp

Hi. We had surgery on the same date!! I am off crutches, but still have to use the brace until the end of May (at least). At PT I can ride the bike for 15 minutes & a few other excersizes. How are you doing w/ your recovery?

The only real pain Ive had has been this past week with nerve pain. I had the ACL reconstruction w/ an allograft & also the lateral meniscus repair.

Best of luck

4/14 & rehab

Summer - I checked out your blog. Very interesting since we've both had the same surgery date but way different procedures. I had the allograft, so I only have 5 small incisions, one you can't even tell it was ever part of the surgery, you'd think it was a bug bite. No brace huh? Lucky you. They told me I have to wear it until I go back to see him at the end of the month, but I've been walking around the house occasionally w/out it, just easier that way. I'm also doin the Pirate Gait! Kinda funny. Doc only has me going to PT 2 x per week, but I have at least 2 more months of this torture.

No pics here, when I thought to do it, I just wasn't up to having gross pics taken. The worst looking part of it was thee bruising on the shin.

Pain pills have come in handy the past few days, I think because I'm doing more, i'm in more pain. At the same time I feel like I should be further than I am in recovery, but understand that it was less than 3 weeks ago this major surgery was done.

Feel free to IM me on yahoo... Rebakemp72

Hope your weekend is going painfree!

hey! good luck with the recovery. im currently rehabing my left leg. this was my second surgery, i had the right one done by freddie fu in december of '08 after a collision in soccer. he also reconstructed my left leg (trampoline this time) this july. im almost at the year mark with my right leg, and the good news is that i cant tell the difference-its as if it never happened. keep up with PT!
