I tore my ACL on 27 September 2008 whilst playing football. I played a pass and planted my right foot and a split second later I was hit from behind by an opponent. I hyperextended my right knee, tearing the ACL and damaging the medial meniscus.
I had the reco done on 6 October 2008 successfully and am now about 15 weeks post op. Hamstring graft, before you ask. And the graft size was 0.9cm.
So I'm now 15 weeks post op, as I said. I'm running, and building up the pace and duration all the time. I've managed about 45 mins at 7.5 mph so far, without any reaction. I'm sideways jogging and running figures of 8. My muscle bulk is increasing all the time, back to within about 1cm of the good leg. I'm working hard in the gym, about 3-4 times per week, and running 30 mins to work 2-3 times per week. My physio is working me hard and I'm highly motivated - I'm desperate to play again this football season (i.e. by early April).
The reason I'm really writing is to find out how far along I am in the rehab process. It's difficult to gauge how things are going without specialist input! If anyone has any thoughts about the progress I'm making and anything more that I can do to progress to a successful outcome, I'd be very keen to hear from you.
