ACL Rehabilitation

by Michelle
(Washington State)

It's been almost 4 wks and i still am not able to tighten up my quads or straighten out my leg completely. This is making it difficult for me to walk without a limp. If anyone has any suggestions on what I can do to help get this resolved I would love to hear from you.

Thank You
Michelle

My 14 year old son will soon have the same surgery and from what I understand, rehab is needed 3x per week. Are you in physical therapy? Good luck to you. I hope it get better soon. Work hard and you will be fine from what I understand. Keep me posted.

I am 2 months since I got my ACL surgery and I was doing therapy 3x per week now it is down to two and once going to the gym, and yet it is still hurts a bit when I try to straighten my leg, so I do think it is normal but worry, I had the same paranoia

Re-Hab
by: Michelle

Yes I am in re-hab I go 1x per wk and also am going to the gym 2-3x's a wk to ride the stationary bike. I have been given an exercise routine to do at home as well. The swelling is my main concern. It prevents me from extending and flexing my knee to normal range and cause pain in the knee.

Thank you for your concern I hope your son does well with his procedure.

extension
by: Ali

I find that manipulating your kneecap helps. If you relax your leg and move your kneecap up and down and side to side...dunno if the physio told yuo to do that but I think it helps. And do your extension exercises and you can squat with your back against the wall or against a stability ball which is against the wall.
