I am a sophomore in High school and am playing on a varsity basketball team. I have been playing basketball since I was 10 years old. I love it!! I have never had surgery or any major injury at all. I have broken my nose twice, and broke my arm but I didn't have surgery. So it was on Friday, December 10th, 2010. And I was playing a basketball game. I was running down the right side of the lane on a fast break and was dribbling. I went to jump stop to shoot a little pull up jumper and I looked down and I saw my knee go out and come back in. I feel to the floor and grabbed my right knee. I knew it was bad. It didn't really hurt, my knee just felt really tight. The trainer helped me off the floor and did a test but he didn't know what it was. He told me to call my doctor and get in. So I called him up and he said that I could come to his house that next day (Saturday). So I went and he did a test that took like 5 seconds and he said, Well the bad news is that you tore your ACL. I started crying, because I knew I was out for 6 months. I felt so bad and horrible. But the doctor encouraged me and said well your only a sophomore and you still have 2 more years. So I felt a little better. So we scheduled an appt. for that next Tuesday. I went in and he scheduled my surgery for December 21, 2010!!! Only 11 days after I did it. I was excited to be getting in that fast. My swelling wasn't bad at all. I barely had any at all. So on December 21st, I had my surgery. It went really well and safe. I am right now at 5 weeks after my surgery. I cannot wait to get back into basketball!! My team is really supportive and great! i love them so much :)
Basketball is my life :) and i couldn't imagine not playing. I want to go to D1 college and play. So I still have 2 more years to play in high school.
