anke swelling (kicked playing soccer)

by Gloria
(ogden UT)

I was playing soccer on Sunday 10/26 and i was going for the ball with my left foot the opposite player kicked my ankle instead of the ball and i felt a pop after that I fell to the ground and couldn't walk I put ice on it right away it helped the pain just a little bit but the swelling did not go down. I had ice on my ankle all night and the swelling did go down but this morning I couldn't walk on it and the swelling came back. should I get checked or just keep putting ice on it?

I would recommend getting it looked at, just to be safe. Continue with the ice, and you can use a compression wrap (elastic bandage) to help with the swelling, but having your doctor look at it will let you know exactly what is wrong.
