Ankle Sprain- Playing Basketball.

I sprained my ankle about 7 1/2 weeks ago,when i was playing basketball and landed on someones foot, but i was stupid and played on it for about 3 1/2 weeks, and then knew i had to do something about it. I've been icing, and heating, and everything there is, for about 3 1/2 weeks now and have seen some improvement. I still cant do any jumping on it though. I can walk on it without any pain, and it isn't really swollen or anything, but i still have bruising on it.

When it first happened, i didn't really do much to make it heal, but there wasn't much swelling

When i try to do strengthening exercises it will hurt more the next day.

So what do you think, will it heal anytime soon? could i have damaged it by playing on it? Is there any way i can make it heal faster?

You probably need some type of therapy...

Did you ever see a doctor about your sprain? I always recommend a visit, if for no other reason than to get an X-ray and make sure nothing is fractured. A physician can also refer you to therapy, which is the best and fastest way to recover from an ankle sprain.

Unfortunately, there isn't any way to speed up healing, but not doing anything will definitely slow it down. You would be best to get into some type of structured rehabilitation program to work on improving your strength, balance, endurance, and muscle control.
