Another ice pack burn

G'day from Australia:-) Its another ice pack burn story. I'm so glad I found this website as now I dont feel like such a complete durr brain. I should know better too as I'm a nurse! I put an ice pack (no cover as I was too lazy to go get it) on my upper leg / butt cheek as I have a flare up of hamstring attachment tendonitis from time to time. I sat for about 30 mins watching TV as the ice pack did its stuff then hopped in the shower. Drying myself off I noticed this raised weird looking skin that felt really cold where I'd had the icepack. I massaged the area to try and get the blood flowing and it got redder and redder as the eve went on. I used saline compresses to reduce the inflammation and this helped. I used aloe vera gel and medicinal honey ointment and that helped too. 1 day later the swelling has gone but I have this bright red oblong patch like really bad sunburn the same shape as the ice pack. Today I'm using aloe vera gel - hoepfully it will settle over the next few days. If not then Im off to the Doc! I printed off all of the other stories from this website to prove to my boyfriend that this can actually happen and I didn't spend the night in a BDSM parlour having my ass spanked - hehe. Will keep you posted - hope it doesn't get worse!!!!!!

update on ice pack burn
by: Chrissy

G'day. Its me again from Aus:-) 2 days post ice pack incident and all is well. Applied copious amounts of aloe vera gel over the last couple of days and the redness has almsot gone - phew!! Didnt fancy it turning into a deep burn that needed grafting or anything - what a nightmare that would have been. Anyway - lesson learnt and I will be more careful in future. Hope all the rest of you got a good outcome from your incident.

cheers and have a great weekend
