Brett's ACL surgery

I am getting a acl reconstruction in early january and my doctor says he is doing the hamstring graft, i am a big sports player especially basketball and soccer, is this a good choice, if so how painful. and one more question, do they take the hamstring graft out through the same opening as the acl when reconstructed ?
