Hi, I'm a student-athlete at Simmons College. I am currently a junior nursing major and play for the soccer team at Simmons. I have been a starter since freshman year, playing both midfield and forward. This fall season (2009) was going well for us. We'd been seeded 5th in preseason polls, but had surprised everyone and qualified for the conference tournament. We were playing in out last regular season game at home when it happened. I was chasing a ball out of bounds when I landed wrong and had to crawl off the feld. I just knew something was wrong and sure enough, as confirmed the following day by MRI, I'd ruptured my acl. It was devestating news, as we were playing in the conference quarterfinals the following weekend. I watched my team from the sidelines as we won quarterfinals, semifinals, and even the finals. We won our conferenc as I watched from the sidelines. We even got a big in the NCAA tournament which I also had to watch from the bench. I still can't believe that I had to watch my team do the unthinkable. I couldn't have dreamt of winning our conference title. And now I have my surgery in 5 days right after I finish final exams. It's been a tough semester. I'd appreciate someone just reading this and understanding my heartbreak..and maybe providing some reassurance for rehab and most importanly, my last season.
