Bruising (total knee replacement 2 years ago)

I had a total knee replacement two years ago in March. Recently it has been hurting more and more. Tonight I went to rub it when I noticed that the outer part of my knee is swollen and starting to change colors as if it was hit by something. I know I did not hit it or fall or anything that could cause me to have bruised it yet it is turning colors. Do you know what this could mean?

bruising

Discoloration like bruising usually indicates some type of internal damage that causes bleeding, and then the blood moves to the surface.

It probably would be a good idea to give your doctor a call just to be on the safe side, since you don't recall any trauma to your knee.
