Complete PCL disruption

Hi, I am 17 years old and i took a nasty fall when i was playing soccer. My knee hit the ground quite hard. I then went to a chiro practor but he said to me to just wait and time will heal.

Well after 2-3 weeks, My knee suddenly was swollen and I went to have an MRI scan. The conclusion from MRI scan is as follow: "complete disruption to the mid PCL, mild strain of the ACL and proximal attachment of both the MCL and LCL ligaments. No chondropathy, large effusion."

I just want to ask u whether i need a surgery? And will i be able to play soccer competitively again?

I really need to seek opinions on this matter.

Thanks for sparing your time,

pcl tear
by: Bart - SII

PCL tears are not very common in sports - I think I have seen 5 or 6 over the last 10 years. Most of the time they are treated conservatively with rest, a brace, and then rehabilitation. The PCL will often heal on its own, depending on how it is handled initially.

Some tears do require surgery if you have instability after the initial rehab and treatment.

I would talk to your doctor about rehabilitation and a brace, and then work to build your strength and balance back up. You may very well be able to avoid surgery if it is cared for properly.

High grade partial PCL tear
by: Saleh

Please someone give me an advice. My knee has been hurt by a motorcycle 4 month ago, I took an MRI of my right knee and 10 session for physiotherapy . I have still a bit pain when I want to go up stairs or when I want to kneel.

My question is that do I need an Arthroscopic surgery.
Also, is the result of MRI exact to diagnose whole injures of my knee. What should I do to treat My knee?

This My MRI result :

MRI OF KNEE JOINT :
High grade partial tear of PCL is noted.
Normal configuration and signal intesity of bony structures are seen.
The medial meniscus appear normal
No abnormality is noted in the ACL
The LCL and MCL are grossly normal
