I had my acl reconstruction 2 years ago I was absolutely devastated when I ruptured it as my whole life I wanted to join the army , now I have had my reconstruction it was highly unlikely this was possible , at first when I came around after the surgery the pain wasn't too bad this was because they gave me morphine before I was due to wake up , but once that wore off it was a ripping pain and very very sorry and my knee felt weird , I recovered quite quickly I could weight bear after 1 and. Half weeks and climbing stairs after 2 weeks , only one problem with the surgery is they cut some nerves in my leg and I have a numb patch about 3inch by 2 inch just to the side off my scar , also if I get cramp in the back of my knee the pains is like breaking your leg and being shot in the leg it jerks about and as very very very high pain with it , I skipped my rehab physio as didn't start getting results and was kept back so now I just plod along and do consider paying for private physio one day as I'm looking to apply for the army as I think it's possible with my knee once I have received the proper treatment
