Danelle's ACL story

by Danelle
(Michigan)

I partially tore my acl in the same leg i was having scoped for a meniscus tear. my doctor chose to just take care of the meniscus because the thought i could live with a partial acl ( i am not an athlet but a very active 33 year old women with 2 very active kids.) that was a year ago, since then my knee has never been stable and arond Christmas time it "popped" again. this time the doctor told me because of my age i would be better off doing rehab instead of surgery. the rehab has helped but my knee is still very unstable. And there is pain ALL the time. I just want to get back to normal. has anyone had rehab work? is it possible to be active with a partially torn acl? i am leaning toward surgery (with a different doctor) but my husband is hesitant, he thinks i should listen to this doctor. I understand the recovery is long and at times painful, but to me i think it would be worth it.
