Will the labrum re-attach itself to the glenoid if torn in a bankart leison by itself with rest and rehab therapy?
Thanks
John

labrum healing

The labrum will likely not reattach itself to the glenoid with rest and rehabilitation. It is possible, if the tear is very small, that it could heal, but most bankart lesions have to be repaired surgically in order to restore normal anatomic function.

P.S. I am an athletic trainer, not a physician - but thanks for the vote of confidence.

Labrums do not reattach themselves and cartilage does not repair itself either, even if you take a ton of Glucosamine and Chondroitin.

post anchor healing of labrum

after glenoid labrum is reattached with absorbable anchors, how long does it take for the labrum to attach itself to the glenoid rim? I assume it does reattach as the anchor is absorbed into the body and eventually gone.
