Do I have hip Flexor injury?

by Karalee

In January, I was hit, head on by a SUV while I was driving a small car. Both cars were totaled. I had many injuries, but I have one that my doctor has not dignosed yet. No fault insurance will not allow any MRI at this point.

My problem is in my hip. I get severe sharp pains in the hip (not thigh area) flexor area. This happens when I turn, go upstairs, and if I get up sometimes. I have pain and a limp that comes and goes with walking.

I feel like I am losing my balance, and in fact fell after bending and standing up and turning.

Sounds like the hip joint...
by: Bart - SII

From what you describe, it sounds more like you may have some type of injury to the hip joint. What other types of injuries did you suffer in the crash? Sometimes pain at the hip can be attributed to compensation of the body for other problems - ie at the knee or ankle.

It sounds like you would benefit from some type of rehabilitation, and also from further diagnostics (if insurance will allow for it). I would talk to your doctor about your concerns and see what your next options are for moving your recovery along.

Hope this helps - comment back with other questions.

re; hip injury

I had multiple broken ribs, neck strain, back strain, and my knees got jambed into the dash board. I had PT three times a week until now. Now I have PT two times but I have continued paying for gym membership so I can do the workout 3 times a week as they have trained me. I have full range of motion in my hip, until it locks up in pain, usually after I sit. I hear a click sometimes, but that causes no pain. Very short distance walking causes no pain, ex. sofa to tv but car to store usually causes pain. Pain is usually followed by limp. Then it can go away... Turning causes shooting pain and loss of balance. It's always okay when I am at the insurance doc, so they will not let my doctor do a MRI. It's really bad 50% of the time because the rest of the time I am still. I can't make it come and go at will so I can demostrate it to the doctor. It has really changed my life. I used to walk all the time, about 3 miles 4x/week. Now, I also get migraines daily, because of the shooting pain causes tension. I need to get to the bottom of this so I can get healthy and don't lose my job.
