Ellen 5 Games after Release

Ellen 5 Games after Release

My daughter torn her ACL August 24th, 2010 in a league basketball game. She had just started Volleyball season and was getting some Varsity playing time. She was devastated as the predicted recovery time was minimum 6 months, which means she would miss her freshman year of basketball. When she was the 8th planned player on Varsity. She did rehab prior to her surgery to ensure she had full range of motion and a good mental state going in. She had surgery Oct 11th, she worked so hard, she was given a partial release to play basketball on December 9th, 2010, just 2 months after surgery. She was given a full released on December 29th, 2010. She played her first JV and Varisty game January 8th, 2011. She has sense gotten playing time on both JV and Varsity for 8 games. She still does her rehab and is about 85% where she was prior to injury. It has been both tough mentally and physically. But she was mentally prepared to work hard and get herself back in the game. She had the best Surgery team and rehab therapist, but did all of her rehab on her own, with direction from her physical therapist. She was walking the day after surgery with no braces or cruches, she was given a rehab routine which required rehab three times a day at home, and was using a CPM machine. She still ices her leg daily especially after a game, she continues to work on her range of motion, which she has lost a bit from playing on it. She also had a badly damaged Meniscus, which they tried to repair but told us that it might not stay intact, we do believe that it might not be fully intact, so we will have that looked at a some point. They only have a couple of regular season games left, but just being able to play has done a tremendous amount for her mental state.
