Healing time for tiny foot bone fracture???

I hurt my right foot playing soccer on the 29th of june when I kicked the ball. I woke up the next morning and since I work in the hospital went to the emergency department with a pain in my right foot.

The Doctor examined my foot and had a couple of x-rays done on the right foot and after studying it he said there was just a very tiny fracture in one of the bones in my foot but didn't say which bone.

They put me in a cast for 3 days until i returned to the fracture clinic on Wednesday the 2nd of July where i seen an orthopedic surgeon. He examined my x-rays and said the fracture was only tiny and he removed the cast and put me in a walking boot which he said i only needed for 2 weeks and then to leave it off for good and walk on my foot.

I asked him was it ok to walk properly on it again after 2 weeks and he said yes. Ive been reading stuff on the internet about foot fractures and it normally says it takes 6 weeks to heal but the surgeon said 2 weeks in the boot should be enough for me.

Can a very tiny fracture take only 2 weeks to heal????

Let pain be your guide...

It is true that most fractures heal around 6 weeks. But, if the fracture is very small, not displaced, and healing well, then 2 weeks in a boot is probably enough.

When you start walking without the boot, let pain be your guide. If it is very painful, then gradually work your way out of the boot. You will probably have some pain and stiffness, but it shouldn't be severe.

And, if you are concerned with your progress, make sure you talk to your physician.

Hope this helps - comment back with other questions.
