Hip flexor or pointer

My daughter was hurt last year in a basketball game, Ortho. doctor thought she had fractured her hip, but MRI did not show this so he told her to rest her hip. She stayed out of 5 games and then returned to playing.

She started basketball practice this week with a much more demanding running program than she was used to and is now having terrible hip pain like she did when she injured her hip last year. What could this be and would physical therapy or a trip back to her Ortho.Dr. be wise?

I'm not with her every minute so I'm not sure if she even is stretching properly before she practices.

hip injury

It could be a hip flexor injury, related to her previous injury. It could also be the rapid increase in activity over the last week. Ice after activities as well as making sure she goes through a good warm up and stretching before she plays may help. If it continues for more than the first week, I would get back in to see the doctor.
