i hope its not he end of my dream

I am only a fourteen year old male. I tore my acl in half, partially tore my mcl, tore my meniscus in three places, and had a bone fracture in the articullar bone. I had high expectations to play football. I was supposed to be real good and make varsity as a freshman. That was until this happened.

I got the ball on a bubble screen on the first day of hitting practice. I was juking outwards when i got hit on my knee and it collapsed. I have been able to bounce around all my life in sports and never got injured, but this time was different. I just remember a very weird feeling in my hole leg. it was like numb, and i couldnt put any pressure on it or it would feel like someone was stabbing me in the back of the knee.

I got up and limped off the field in excruciating pain. The trainer looked at it and believe it or not he said that nothing was wrong with it and i should keep playing. I just said whatever and continued to play with a huge limp. I looked like a waterhead out there stumbling around.

I went home and my knee was swollen like a balloon. it was very painful. I tried to hide it from my dad because i didn't want to think i was a wimp. I just wrapped it so tight i couldn't bend it before practice. I played two straight weeks of two a days and two varsity scrimmages with it. It gave out countless times. i actually got used to the pain, can you believe how freaking stupid i am.

Then one night my dad caught me limping on it. He scheduled a doctors appointment right away. When i got to the doctors he basically told me how stupid i am. He took an mri and told me exactly what was wrong. He said that i would need two operations, One to repair the meniscus and one to repair the acl. The mcl and fracture would heal on their own.

Well i got the meniscus surgery done and ended up getting a staff infection. I only have 75% of my meniscus left. I am still waiting for acl sugery. I just hope i am able to play sports again and be as good and as fast.

Please remember to tell someone if your hurt.

Hang in there

It is definitley not the end of your dream. My 13 yr old daughter felt the exact way 2 months ago when she underwent her acl repair. She was in so much pain. Now she has just been cleared to start jogging and will be able to play soccer again in March--thats 5 months after her acl repair. Hang in there and think positive. I know how awful you must feel..giving up a sport you love for ANY amount of time is devasting, but if you rehab hard you will come back even stronger than before!
