injured meniscus how long before i can play soccer

I'm 21 years old i've played football but mainly soccer. A few months ago i started having pain in my knee, then a week after pain started i played another soccer match for about 80 minutes. then the pain became unbearable, i went to a doctor and they told me to rest for 6 weeks. I've done that but still can't walk normally.
Does anyone know how long it will take before i can play soccer?
