Is My Elbow Jammed?

by Alex
(Shelby, michigan. US)

Was riding my bike and a car pulled in front of me. I went to go turn and then hit a gravel patch. Was falling onto my side and stuck my hand out. I got up and my hand and shoulder were the only things cut up but when I got home I had a sharp pain in my elbow when I move it, and occasionaly a throbbing pain.

Is it jammed or just sore from the impact?

It could be jammed...

From impacting on an outstretched arm, you could have sprained your joint capsule, or it could be pain from the impact. More seriously, you could have a fracture of the radial head, or of the elbow itself.

If this doesn't get better in the next few days with lots of rest and ice, I would highly recommend seeing a physician for an X-ray and evaluation.
