Jammed finger with palm swelling and pain

by Michael
(Dallas, TX USA)

My finger feels as though I have jammed it, however there is also some swelling and pain (to the touch) in the palm of my hand directly below the subject finger. I also have some tightness in what feels like a ligament extending from my palm up my forearm.

Is this normal with a jammed finger or should I be concerned that more damage is done? I don't have any swelling or bruising in my finger, just soreness, reduced flexibility and loss of grip strength.

jammed finger?

I would get this looked at. It sounds like it could be more than just a jammed finger. How did the injury occur? First thought that comes to mind is some type of injury to the flexor tendon. See your doctor for an evaluation.
