I WAS 17 AND FELL OFF A MOTORCYCLE IN A WHEELIE ATEMPT. NOT PRETTY. THE KNEE HYPEREXTENDED AND DISLOCATED WHICH WAS QUITE PAINFULL. I DIDNT HAVE AN MRI TILL FOUR YEARS LATER AFTER A BAD BICYCLE ACCIDENT REAGGERVATED IT. SURGERY WAS A BIT PAINFUL AND IF YOUR ACTIVE LIKE I AM, DONT RUSH GETTING UP AND AROUND FOR A WEEK AT LEAST. SO A COUPLE YEARS GO BY AND I HAVE ANOTHER BICYCLE CRASH. POP GOES THE OTHER ACL! JUST LIKE YOU POP YOUR KNUCKLES BEFORE A FIGHT. THATS HOW EASY IT WAS TO TEAR. LIKE A WOMAN WHOS PREGNANT, I JUST KNEW IT.
IT WAS THAT PESKY LITTLE ACL AGAIN.
SO SURGERY WAS SWIFT AND IM BACK IN THE REHAB ROOM (MY BEDROOM) ALL I CAN SAY IN WORDS OF ADVICE IS THIS:
1. THE KNEE IS MUCH MORE DELICATE THAN I HAD EVER THOUGHT BEFORE.
2. EVEN IF YOUR IN GOOD SHAPE YOU ARE JUST AS PRONE TO HAVE IT TEAR, ONE LITTLE MISTAKE IS ALL IT TAKES.
3. DONT RUSH THINGS AFTERWARD! IF YOU DO, YOU WILL REGRET IT. TAKE IT EASY AND RELAX WITH YOUR PERCS ;)
4. BUILD THE MUSCLES REGULARLY ON A CYCLING MACHINE WHICH IS GREAT FOR LOW/NO IMPACT STRENGTHINING IF THE LEG MUSCLE GROUPS.
AS FOR ME I HAVE FINALLY LEARNED MY LESSON AND HAVE RENOUNCED MY DAYS OF BIKING. (NOT MOTORCYCLES;)
