I destroyed my left acl on April 11th 2009 playing football. no contact
involved. MY huge mistake was wearing 3/4 inch cleats. I planted my left leg and turned to my left and jumped in the air to catch a ball thrown to me. when i went up i felt the ligaments
snap like twigs. I was in the air waiting for the ball and the whole time my leg was just
dangling under me, i could hear all the crazy sounds going on while in the air. I landed on the bad leg and it folded up under me like a folding chair. Let me tell u that my screams still haunt a few of the guys on the field that day. talk about freaked out. This was my very first injury ever, and i`m 33 years old. I had a cadaver
ligament put in and retuned to ice hockey within 5 months. I just retuned to my football team this past week which is 10 months after surgery. It was a long road to recovery, but if you stay positive and do the rehab to the best of your ability, you will make a full recovery. I`m living proof. Good luck and god speed.
