juans acl screw up

well i have a lot more than just an acl tear.
i tore my acl, mcl, and my lateral and medial meniscus..
i will be having surgery in a couple weeks. im 17 and sports are my life. what are my chances of making a comeback..? and in how long..?

What are your chances for a good recovery? Depends on your surgeon AND your dedication to go thru the rehab. My friend had a torn ACL plus a flipped Meniscus. The local docs said well we can fix you good enough so you can walk around the mall, but for what you want to do (surf etc.) you need to go to NYC. She did. She got a good sports medicine Dr. who did her surgery, she spent 2 hours a day doing exercises and she has her entire mobility back. She hikes, surfs and still dances like a maniac. I won't lie to you, she had to use a machine that she called the 'torture machine' for a couple of months, and she complained her knee was swollen up to twice the size of normal (which is normal after surgery). Don't worry. You are a man and you have more muscles than a woman does. You'll be fine, just tell yourself you are gonna get this fixed and then do it. Make sure you get a Dr. who is good. How do you know if he is good? He should be affiliated with a teaching hospital, if he's real good he does research and publishes papers in medical journals. Good luck and get the 750 mg. Vicodins, with two of those, you'll be able to do your exercises and not be in pain.
