I am an athletic 16 year old girl who not only loves to watch but also play sports. I play volleyball, basketball, and softball during their seasons and all three in the summer. I also play JO volleyball in the spring. There was about twenty min left in vb practice and we were hitting Shoots. I went up and on the way down I felt everything twist, a pop, and then extreme pain. I laid on the floor Screaming and coach ran to get ice while my teammates tried to comfort me. After my parents came we went to the ER and the gave me some pain meds which helped calm me and they took xrays. After that I had to wait four days, Monday, to find out results. There was nothing broken but the doctor misdiagnosed me with a sprain and or just a meniscus tear. I waited a week to see another dr who felt my leg and told me he was sure I tore my acl. I thought my life was over but i got an MRI right after and had to wait a week to find the results. The verdict was a torn acl, lateral and medial meniscus as well as mcl sprain and bruising of both bones. Initially that crushed me bc I realized my sb season was done I had caught varsity as a freshman so my team had a hole too. After I realized all I could do was to get depressed and hurt myself more or come back stronger I chose the latter my basketball coach also keeps me positive. I started prehab for two weeks and then had surgery. I am now two weeks out and the doctors are pleased with my progress. I will not be able to play vb my junior year but I have a new appreciation for things and want to come back my strongest. However, I am nervous to come back to catching since it's hard on knees but I also don't know for sure if I can catch again.
