My name is lance I am 29 years old very athletic and muscular build. I tore my minicus and most of my acl about five years ago (2005 I think).I was kicked in the back of my knee. Over the next few years my knee gave way several times so I decided to to go in for surgery in 2007 and had my medial meniscus repaired but not my acl. Then in 2009 I injured my knee at work dragging a fence. MRI showed I now had a complete acl tear. I got a better surgeon then on Jan 12 2010 I had patella acl reconstruction and had some of the medial meniscus trimmed. I woke up after the surgery and didn't t have much pain until five days later my knee would hurt extremely bad when I would stand even if I didn't t put any weight on it. I also had a bit of a fever. It was the weekend so I could not get a hold of my surgeon so I went to the hospital they said it looked like an infection. They tried putting a needle in my knee to drain it and after the third attempt I said three strikes your out. They said it probably was not infected inside the joint which was good news! They put me on intravenous antibiotics and I had to cab back and forth to the hospital three time a day for antibiotics and honestly I was in a lot of pain when standing, but not while I had my leg flat laying down. I seen my surgeon a week after the surgery and he said my knee didn't t look infected and gave me antibiotic pills to take instead for one week. He said I had very bad bruising and that is what was causing the pain and swelling. He was right two weeks after the surgery not much pain and starting to walk on day thirteen, got 90 degree also on day thirteen which I thought was weird because doing heal slides on the bed knee would feel extremely tightness could only do about 45 degree. On day thirteen though, I bent my knee did a mini squat and turned my body slightly and heard a small pop in my knee I got no pain or swelling even while walking, also range of motion is back no more tightness. Knee feels a bit unstable probably because I just got off the crutches, but I was wondering if not having tightness is a good thing. Could of the pop been my new acl breaking? My surgeon is on holiday till the end of March.
