Land, Crash, Pop, Yikes!

I tore my ACL & Meniscus at a Mogul Competition in February. I remember I landed and I just sensed a "pop". I knew something wasn't right. I couldn't stand up. I was finally able to prop myself up and make it across the finish line. Then I stopped and just bent over. It wasn't painful, but it sure wasn't right. I was walked(ok, well more like carried) out of the way and waited with some really nice people while the ski patrol came. When my coach came down(he had a few other competitors going like right after me), he asked me how I was doing ect. I kept telling my coach "It's not that bad, it doesn't hurt." and kept asking "I can compete in two weeks if I take next weekend off, right?" He had torn his years ago(never got surgery though) and from the way I described my landing and the pop, I think he didn't think so but didn't have the heart to tell me yet. Anyway, to make a long story short after I got the MRI results back I was devastated. I learned I tore my ACL and Meniscus and couldn't ski for the rest of the season. Its been almost 2 mo since the accident. I have my first consult the end of the month.I guess I'm just really nervous about the whole thing. I know lots of other athletes in my sport(and many other sports as well) have had the same injury, so how was it for you? Any advice/good things to ask the doctor? Thanks for reading, its just really scary.

Hello,
I am in 10th grade.

I tore my acl playing soccer this past sep.
I had surgery in oct. and now I am almost 6 months out.

I just wanted to tell you... It was not as bad as I thought it would be! I was sooo scared before my surgery and now that its all over it was not nearly as scary as I thought!

Just tell your doctor what you are worried about. If you want to know something just ask!!!

I hope all goes well!
