I'm having this surgery done in 3 weeks. The surgeon plans on doing both knees 2 weeks apart.Do you see any complications in doing this that close and what kind of rehab and as well i stand 10-12 hours per day at work How long do you see me being off work?

Thanks
Dave

Time is different for everyone
by: Bart - SII

I would imagine that 2 weeks between surgeries is going to be a little too soon. Most of the time it takes about 4-6 weeks for a good recovery after a lateral release - everyone is different, this is just the average I have seen.

You will likely be out of work for a week or two, as standing for prolonged periods of time will likely cause increases in pain and swelling, which will slow your recovery - this may be longer if your job involves heavy lifting or twisting a lot.

Patients I have seen who had a lateral release on both knees waited anywhere from 2-6 months between surgeries - they wanted a full recovery to make sure the procedure was going to work before they jumped in for both knees.
