Lateral Release...What's Next?

by Frustrated
(Alaska)

I received a Lateral Release in my right knee in June 2007. (Also had the back of kneecap smoothed out) I went through and did the physical therapy and continue to do it still. In May and June, my knee was feeling stronger, but still hurt pretty often. I had an appointment with my doctor in May in which he basically said that I shouldn't run, play basketball, ect. I haven't done any of those things, and my knee feels like its getting worse. I realize that both my knee caps are turned inward. Day to day stuff is becoming difficult and I'm only 28. Is the lateral release my last resort? Do I just suffer from now on?

I'm obviously not going to get in done on my left knee, since the right knee did not seem successful. Any suggestions would be of great help.

Hip/core exercises...
by: Bart - SII

Working on strengthening exercises for the hip and core are important for this type of surgery recovery. I am going to have information on this in the next few weeks (I hope) and that may be of benefit to you. In the meantime, continuing with your current exercises, and adding in any type of hip strengthening would help.
