Left knee arthroscopic lateral release

by Destiny

I have severe arthritis in both my knees, also fibromylagia. I fell at work back in May and tore my left meniscus. I had surgery on it in July and went to 2 months PT. The kneecap kept going out of line so the Doc did a arthroscopic lateral release 2 1/2 weeks ago. Since the surgery I am in a great deal of pain and swelling, the Doc aspirated about 75 cc of blood last week out of it. Last night and today app. 6 times now I feel the kneecap moving out of line agian..the same feeling I had pre-op, it use to do this when I did stairs and then I would fall. but now it is doing this even when I walk. Is this possible it is doing this already and the surgery didn't work??? My knee feels very swelled and tight like something is not right..it intensifies when I walk..Please help.

swelling and pain

the swelling and pain are likely altering the normal feelings of your knee. Until these things are resolved, your strength is built back up, and your neuromuscular control are restored, it will likely be impossible to tell if the surgery worked.

Talk to your doctor about your pain levels and concerns - and make sure you are in some type of rehabilitation to help with your pain, swelling, and strength.
