Maddy's ACL Rehab

(Hawaii, USA)

As a young 13 year old athlete (basketball) I was beginning to be very good. I play rec. and select basketball for a top team in Washington.

I was playing a scrimmage with my school team one day and fell. I heard a "pop" noise and much pain to the knee. I also couldn't walk. This was very scary for me... I thought why did this have to happen to me??? It was a huge blow.

The next day (monday) I went to the doctors (on crutches) and they x-rayed my knee and everything. I found out that it was a full tear of the anterior cruciate ligament. I was devastated.

5 months, later after surgery I am doing great. I can now run a mile in 7 minutes (which is a minute and a half better then before). Also I have started doing jumping exercises and am also back to normal.

The first 2 months after surgery is definitely the best. And amazingly my scar is starting to disappear. I miss my teammates and I miss competing but I am sure in awhile I will be back and stronger then ever!

Hey! What graph did you have? It sounds like you are doing great! I'll be 15 next week and i tore mine at the end of my Varsity Freshman basketball season. it was a great year, and i wanted to work really hard in the off season to get better, but that couldn't happen. i tore my ACL with 2 games left in the season, i was devestated just like you.when did you tear yours? I had surgery in April, i think it will be 7 months on Monday. i got released a month ago to play sports! It is great to be back to playing! sounds like you are doing great, and i am sure you will be back to playing in no time, if you aren't already. Do you know when you can go back? Are you going to wear a brace? Good luck and God bless!
