MCL bracket knee brace pain

I have a tear in my mcl which was diagnosed after an MRI this week. A hinged knee brace has been prescribed, I saw the Dr. today to be certain the brace is properly fitted but I am experiencing a lot more pain with brace on.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Is the pain coming from where the brace touches against the inside of the knee? If that is the case, adding some extra padding to the brace may help.
