medial meniscus cartilage tear in right knee

by Hollis Johnson
(Carrollton, GA USA)

Arthroscopic surgery was performed on it in 1998. The surgeon bruised nerves in the process and it has been swollen and intermittently painful since the operation was performed. I have no ability to run and the rehabilitative services saw me one time and said there was no need for me to return....and not to expect the knee to get well for quite some time. The surgeon never told me about bruising the nerves nor has he seen me since the operation even though I continued to have problems.

Will the bruised nerves ever stop affecting the knee so that it can go back to normal size and I can be without pain?

nerve damage

Nerve damage from surgery can take several months to over a year to recover. I would recommend seeking a second opinion for possible treatment options given that it has been 10 years.
