my jammed finger from almost 4 days ago..

well, i jammed my thumb about 4 or 5 days ago and it has been swelling like 2x its normal size. i was throwing the football and it hit it wrong like right on the tip and it has had swelling, been hurting lke crazy, and just getting in the way of everything i do.

I play football for my high school and the trainer said to contact a doctor before i continue practicing because it may be fractured, but my dad said it was just a jammed finger because he thinks he knows more than the sports trainer at my school when he really doesn't.. i just wanted to see what you thought i should do??

Even though jammed fingers happen all the time, I would recommend seeing a doctor for an X-ray. It is always best to make sure that there isn't a fracture - which is very possible in the fingers with the type of injury you describe.

If a fracture is left untreated, it can cause permanent problems - and this is a major concern in the hands because you use them for so many things all day, every day.

Get an X-ray just to make sure.
