Nerve Type Symptoms and Numbness Over the Knee

by Simon Druce
(London)

I am a 35 year old male who has undergone hip resurfacing back in January, things are moving really well on the operated side and no one would really know i have undergone this type of operation.

Over the last three months i have developed a twinge in my buttock and pain in the flexor on the non operated side which shows fine in the X-Ray. As the day progresses it moves into a dull ache at the side of my hip accompanied by numbness over and below my knee cap. Have you any idea what these frustrating symptoms could be.

Many Thanks

compensations
by: Bart - SII

Have you returned to walking in a normal fashion since your hip surgery? You may have some muscle compensations due to the surgery, and now there are abnormal stresses on the opposite side because of this.

Lots of hip stretching, as well as hamstrings and low back stretching may help.

I would talk to your doctor or therapist about these symptoms.
