hi, my name is nicole ,I'm 14 years old and i tore my ACL january,2009. I was at the peak of my playing career I was just told i made the varsity soccer team, and i was a key player on the basketball team. Managing two sports at a time isn't easy in high school, especially if they run together.
Well it was during a basketball game and i jumped to block a girl, but when i came down my left knee popped and gave out, i got the block, and tore my ACL doing it. I was extremely upset when i found out what happened to my knee, I had heard of people tearing their ACL's and coming back strong, but I also heard of those that didn't come back.
A month later i had my surgery. Therapy was the worst pain in the world. I was freaking out when my therapist bent my knee that first week. I can take pain pretty well but I cried every day for the first week. I was screaming in pain every day i went in there but i knew that if i wanted to play again i had to go. It has now been 3 months since surgery I can run But my knee is still in pain sometimes, i will begin playing in August. I will play varsity soccer and basketball.
I hated therapy, but i knew what i had to do and i'm glad i went.I have learned not to take anything for granted and i will keep playing it has been a learning experience.
