Pain in the back of my knee up to my hamstring

I am only 13 and I play soccer. I practiced hard for 3 days straight at a mini camp for my team. On the 4th day when I was practicing I started getting pain in my hamstring (the middle of my hamstring).

When I told my coach he asked me weather the pain went up to my hip or down to my knee and I told him down to my knee. He said I had injured the back of my knee or a little above it. My dad said this was from over practice or a weak tackle.

I have iced my knee to my hamstring and put various medications on it (such as Bengay). What can I do to speed up the process of healing and is what my coach told me true (that I injured behind my knee not my hamstring)?

Thanks

Your hamstring runs all along the back of your thigh, from the hip down to the back of the knee - so you may have injured your distal hamstring in the tendon area behind your knee.

Lots of ice after activities, a good warm up and extra hamstring and hip flexor stretching would be beneficial.

If this pain continues to last for more than a few days, get in to see your doctor for an evaluation.
