partial tear in left rotator cuff -- surgery option in patient with dystonia

61 yr old female with myoclones and torticolis which affects my left side only. Dr at UofMD diagnosed moderate case.

Have had severe pain in upper left arm (also have painful lumps)since beginning of March. Had MRI 10 wks after pain began. Diag: possible partial tear in supraspinatus, bone spur. 4 wks of PT and no relief. 2 shots of cortisone (one in back of arm, other in front) -- mild relief.

Can raise arm above head -- w/mild pain.
Cannot raise arm behind back -- severe pain -- making it difficult to dress.
Pain in tricep and bicep -- not much in shoulder itself

Have fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, asthma (mild), Type 2 diabetes, spasmodic dysphonia, high BP, allergies, hypothyroid.

Meds: Synthroid, Actos, Lipitor, Cymbalta, Micardis, Nexium, generic Zyrtec. Also take Vitamin C, multi-vitamin, B complex, Coenzyme 10, FiberCon, Chromium Picolinate.

Been on disability for over 4 years. Was very active and did my own chores daily prior to disability.

Very painful existence but bathe and dress everyday and try to stretch out an until March was getting to gym 3-4 days each week riding recumbant bike, and 30-minute circuit.

Am considering having rotator cuff repair. How will this affect my dystonia?? Are there any anesthesias I should avoid? Any medications I should avoid? Any medications I should take?

Surgery advice

I am not a physician, and so I really cannot give you much information to answer your questions. Anesthesia, surgery prognosis, and questions about medications should all be discussed with your doctor prior to having the procedure done.

Sorry I cannot give more help.
