Patella Dislocation

I'm a dancer and recently I dislocated my knee while dancing. I didn't tear anything, but it popped out and then back in, tearing some cartilage. I had surgery to remove the cartilage, sew up some of my ligaments(?) and then cut a new path on the other side of my knee's ligaments(?) for my kneecap to be positioned correctly. I am also very knock-kneed. I have been in physical therapy for about a week. How long will it be before I can dance again?

patella dislocation surgery

It sounds like you had a meniscectomy (removing cartilage), a patellar stabilization (sewing the ligaments tight), and a lateral release. The normal recovery for this type of surgery is going to be 3-5 months minimum to return to sports/dance type activities.
