PCL, ACL, MCL Injury??

by Kelley

My husband hurt his right knee about 3 to 4 weeks ago. He didn't know how he did it but the first day he noticed it he could barely walk. It was a little swollen and it hurt to bend his knee. After he would rest it would completely stop hurting. We thought it may be "housemaids knee" since he has to get on his knees a lot.

It's still not hurting and he regained full motion but recently he says that he feels like something is moving around in his knee and it's a little unstable. What could it be?

ACL, PCL, MCL?

Symptoms of pain, swelling, and instability could lead to either an ACL injury, or even a meniscus tear. Without a specific mechanism of injury, it is also possible that he has some chronic irritation (perhaps from work) that causes swelling and in turn weakness.

I would recommend seeing your doctor for an evaluation to figure out exactly what is wrong and what needs to be done.
