plate and screw removal from ankle

16 year old - may 2008 broken ankle , one plate and 6 screws, now being removed Oct,08 due to irritation. What is the recovery like after removal...cast, crutches?

I just had a plate and 6 screws removed. it has been almost two weeks, and the dr. still does'nt want any weight on it. how long does it usually take before you can bare weight?

How did your 16 year old do recovering from the removal of the plate and screws? I'm getting mine removed on November 13th.

Every physician is different but I would expect a few days on crutches as needed and then 2-3 weeks of recovery to allow the incisions to heal and to work on increasing your strength and range of motion. Should be a fairly straight forward recovery.
