well i slipped scuba diving in bonaire on may 15, came home in a wheel chair, found out i tore my acl in my left knee. had surgery on june 16, after surgery much pain for three days, then started walking on crutches. rehab started three weeks later. 2 1/2 months later my body was rejecting the sutures and they had to be removed over several weeks, they just kept coming to the surface of my skin. rehab has been going slow because of the pain by where the screw is.

Forward to last week dec 4th 2008 i could hardly walk from the pain, saw doctor on the 11th for my monthly visit, he took x-ray everything looked ok, he gave me a shot in the area of my pain, and said to wait 10 days and see what happens, oh also rehab was stopped for now.

anybody have a clue why after 6months i can hardly walk? i can stand a lot of pain but being self employed this is killing my income.

thanks eveyone

Same for me

Hi,
Tore my acl mountain biking five years ago- fell sideways and landed on an outstretched fully extended knee- stupid!
Had a small amount of swelling and pain for a week, then could walk and then run without pain. Occ. unstable, but could easily compensate for it.
Then, like an idiot, had the bone-tendon-bone ACL repair (patellar tendon donor) by a so-called knee expert (military-trained).
I did everything by the book- never got full extension again. Hurts at the tibial plateau when I run. Recently it has started hurting at the area of the screw- right lateral femur when I run.
Have tried off and on for last five years to get back into running- was up to 20 miles every three days at the track preparing for a marathon. Went to the ortho who did it and got a second opinion- no body can help or even have a clue.
Now I have a torn rotator cuff and I will NOT get it operated on after this experience
I would stay away from steroid shots- it weakens the bone.
May want to get a bone scan to determine your bone density- definitely take calcium withvitamin D every day. May want to see an infectious disease specialist to make sure there is no infection. Bone infections are hard to diagnosis.
May want to get plain x-rays from different angles to see if there is a hairline fracture.
Good luck.
