Question - ACL Repairing

Hi, I want to ask that yesterday I was playing football and while I was running I got a knock in my knee and it hurt a lot and then I stop playing I went to a doctor and I had x-ray in which the doctor said my knee anterior cruciate ligament was torn.

So right now I want to know whether i will ever be able to get back to the normal condition of my knee in which i could run as fast as i used to without any surgery or with surgery.

After an ACL tear, the best option is usually surgery in order to get back to all of the things you want to be able to do. Reconstruction of the ACL makes the knee much more stable, and rehab after surgery is the key to getting back to what you want to be able to do.

Without surgery it is possible to get back to sports again, but is likely that you could have some pain, some instability, and possibly cause further damage to the cartilage in the knee.

I recommend to my patients that if they want to return to sports, then they should strongly consider the surgery.
