Question - Ankle Pain (pain with kicking)

by Ozcan
(Glasgow, SCOTLAND)

I am 28 and nearly a year ago I started to go the gym and last 4 mouths i have been playing football 5 a side every Sunday.

Since then i have ankle pains, i have also Tibialis pains. Maybe this ankle pain is related to this Tibialis pains. This pain is stopping me to kick the ball as strong as i want.

If there is anything you could recommend me.
i will be very grateful.

Thanks very much.

Check your shoes...

Make sure that you have a good arch support in your shoes and that you are warming up and stretching before playing.

Football (soccer) boots are notorious for having little to no padding and poor arch support - this can contribute to ankle pain and shin pain - you should be able to add an orthotic insert that will improve both the padding and arch support - that may help
