Question - Hip Flexor (cracking noise)

by Carrie
(Chicago, IL)

I am 16, I row. Hip flexors are becoming a very common injury on my team. However, while I was doing a lunge I got a really bad hip flexor. Every time I try and do a straight leg raise it cracks three or four times in one spot. It doesn't hurt it just cracks. I went to physical therapy and after a month and a half it still hadn't improved. I have tried all different types of stretches. What new stretches should I try? And what is that cracking noise I am hearing?

If it doesn't hurt...
by: Bart - SII

The cracking you are hearing could be tendons moving over bones or other tendons. Popping and cracking in the joints is very common and is usually not something to worry about unless it is painful.

If you hip doesn't hurt when it cracks, then it probably isn't something to worry about too much. I know that the cracking can be annoying, but sometimes people just crack and pop when they move. (my knees pop all the time but they never hurt)

Hope this helps - comment back with other questions.

Excerises
by: Carrie

Thank you so much for answering! But I just have a quick question, what excerises can I do to prevent the cracking from getting worse?
