Question - Hip Flexor Strain?

by Tracy
(Cape Town, South Africa)

This morning I did a squat jump and felt pain in my outer hip flex region. It is not painful if I lift my knee to my chest, but any lateral movement is painful ie. getting in the car or if I rotate my leg outwards. Is this a typical hip flexor injury?

hip flexor injury

This doesn't sound like a typical hip flexor injury. Most of the time lifting the knee to the chest is a major cause of pain as this is a primary function of the hip flexors. Lateral movements and rotation can sometimes be painful, but I would be more concerned that you have some other type of injury.

I would recommend seeing your doctor if this doesn't improve significantly in the next few days.
