Question - Hip (hip flexor injury with golf)

7 weeks ago I injured my self with a golf swing the club went into the ground and my left hip kept going. I felt a quick burn in my hip flexor area. I had some discomfort in my hip which went away in a few days. My doctor diagnosed the problem as an injury to my hip flexors and illiac crest area.

I went to PT 12 times and with deep tissue massage and exercise the problem decreased dramatically. What is left today is what seems like muscle tightness in the crease area where my leg meets the groin area and stiffness and tightness about 2 inches left of my hip .

Also riding in a car for long distances creates a problem when I get out of the car. What do you think about this injury and how long will it be around?

Thanks for your opinion

Chuck

Hip flexor injury...
by: Bart - SII

I would also be concerned about the overall mobility of your lower back and SI joint - an injury like you describe may have caused some shifting in the SI joint, which can lead to tightness in the hip muscles and the stiffness you are feeling.

Lots of stretching before activities is a good idea - this should continue to get better if you are diligent about warming up and stretching before you play.

labral tear

Have you ever had a hip mri with contrast? It could be a labral tear of your hip and physical therapy is generally not a lot of help.
