Question - Hip Injury (lateral pain)

by Alyssa
(Mesa, AZ)

I have a sharp occasional pain on the outside of my hip (where my hand touches when standing). It sometimes hurts to put weight on it (i.e. leaning over to pick up a basketball).

I can't tell if it's a muscle/bone/ligament injury, or if any of those.

I'm not sure how I hurt it, I just sort of noticed it one day with an intense pain.

Any idea what it could be?

Just a guess...
by: Bart - SII

From what you describe, the first thing that comes to mind is trochanteric bursitis. That is just a best guess based on what you described.

If this pain is limiting your activities, I would recommend seeing your doctor about it just to figure out exactly what is going on...that way you know what you are dealing with and what you should be doing to make it better.

Hope this helps - comment back with other questions.
